A LINGUOCULTURAL APPROACH TO TEACHING RUSSIAN IN UZBEKISTAN BASED ON LOCAL REALIA
Abstract
Local realia of Uzbekistan can and should be included in Russian language courses. They make texts easier for students to understand and link the language to their everyday lives. The article clarifies the concept of the linguocultural approach as applied to Uzbek learners. It proposes a classification of local realia for teaching purposes and describes a set of exercises based on toponyms, names of dishes, holidays, household items and urban landmarks of Tashkent. The materials are designed for students of non-linguistic universities at A2–B1 level of Russian.
