TEACHING SPEAKING THROUGH PICTURES

Abstract

This article deals with one of the most essential issues in modern methodology. Teaching English as a second language requires to teach all four language skills in integration. Speaking is probably one of the most essential language skills as it is productive skill. When language learners aim to express themselves orally they have to use their speaking skill. Teaching speaking can be done through a number of techniques, activities, methods used to form or develop speaking production of learners. Speaking based on pictures can boost critical thinking abilities of language learners that assist them in expressing themselves freely. Pictures may guarantee language learners describe what their mind works out by remembering various words, it eases their depiction process pointing out key elements in the work. The article is going to point to the most important elements in teaching a foreign language with the help of pictures besides it focuses how pictures may help to develop critical thinking abilities.
